Playing time in Mini’s
There has been a complaint about some players receiving limited playing time. Just a reminder that we are trying to follow the rule of fairly equal playing time and during the playoffs all shifts must be recorded.
Substations are allowed only at the 4 minute mark of each shift or due to: injury or a player has received two fouls during one shift. All players shall play in at least 2 shifts per half and no player shall play in more than 8 shifts of the game unless the team has 7 or less players. If a team has more than 13 players, then every athlete must play at least 3 shifts per game, but not more than 8 shifts. Playing time rules will be strictly enforced during playoffs. It is the expectation that regardless of how many players are present, that coaches will provide roughly equal playing time for all players.
The SMBA will be offering free player clinics to the mini and bantam age groups.
The clinics will be at Tommy Douglas Collegiate (enter by the west entrance)
The clinics will be on January 25 and February 1
Bantam Boys: 9 AM - 10:30 AM
Bantam Girls: 10:30 AM - 12:00 Noon
Mini Boys: 12:45 - 2:00
Mini Girls: 2:00 - 3:15
A maximum of 30 players will be accepted in each session (please register early). Some coaches/parents will need to attend in case there is need for assistance.
Players must be preregistered with the SMBA by the Thursday prior to the clinic.
Players can only register for one clinic at a time.

All participants will need to bring their own basketball to the clinic and be prepared to participate.
